| | About Mr. Computer Wiz I’ve always been mechanically inclined, at least that’s what my mother would tell everyone as I was growing up. One embarrassing story she liked to tell was when she took my sister and me to one of those large department store with escalators. I would invariably find the off button, wait till the escalator was full of shoppers, and then run up and press the off button. (I was only 4 or 5 years old, so I don’t recall why I did this. My mother never did figured it out either.) Each time she would grab me by the hand and drag me off, while scolding me that she never wanted to see me doing that again. On one occassion during one of those shopping trips my Mom was standing at a counter with a clerk and the store manager when suddenly banks of store lights were turning off. She looked down and of course, as she expected I was no where to be seen, “where’s my son”. She then asked the store manager where the breaker box was. The Manager assured my mother that there was no way a young child could reach the breaker box. My mother insisted and the manager flash light in hand, escorted her and my sister to its location. Sure enough there I was on teetering on the boxes I'd stacked so I could open the breaker box and start flipping the switches off. "What did I just tell you,"my mother asked me. To which I replied; “you didn’t want to see me do that again, that’s why I’m turning the lights off so you can’t see me”.
With the help of a mentor and family friend we called Heavy (his real name was Holabol White) I started creating, exploring and building my imagination. | | |
